First National Bank has been meeting the financial needs of our community since 1934. Keeping with this tradition, we offer a wide array of trust and investment services tailored to each client’s individual circumstances and requirements. Our purpose is to help you plan for a future of financial security.
Our team of trust officers has over 100 years of experience in providing professional trust and investment services. All of our decisions are made locally, so you can count on personal service that is responsive to your needs.
- Personal Trust
At First National Bank, we actively serve as trustee of personal trusts, whether the trusts are created during a client’s lifetime (called a “living trust”) or created to take effect after death (called a “testamentary trust”). As trustee, we manage the trust investments and make distributions as instructed in the trust instrument. Upon the client’s death, the trust may terminate or continue for the benefit of certain named beneficiaries (i.e. a son, daughter, spouse, or other family members). A living trust can also be used as a disability planning tool to make sure the client and her family are properly cared for in the event of incapacity. Whether named as original or as a successor trustee, First National Bank will ensure that the client’s trust will be correctly followed by making sure the trust assets are invested prudently and distributions are made to the trust beneficiaries as directed by each client.

The Trust Department accepts appointments as executor or administrator of an individual’s estate. The client, with assistance from legal counsel, will normally execute a last will and testament that names First National Bank as the independent executor of the client’s estate. As executor, we are in charge of probating the client’s will, collecting, inventorying and valuing the estate assets, paying estate taxes and creditors, keeping accurate accounting records, and distributing the estate assets to the beneficiaries named under the will.
